These issues require prompt intercession by the legislature to improve the vehicle framework in the city. The framework can be improved if accuse games between the administration and the private segment halted. The administration additionally should be exacting in its guidelines about vehicle quality inside Melbourne and its environmental factors. The ticket charges should be directed and viably controlled. Ticket examiners should be rebuffed and restrained for their absence of habits and regard for travelers. More individuals should begin utilizing transports to go rather than vehicles with the goal that traffic clog decreases. Transport service ought to force brutal laws on nature of trains and cable cars being utilized to maintain a strategic distance from burdens. Presentation The Melbourne transport framework is one of the most seasoned vehicle frameworks on the planet. Transport in Melbourne comprises of far reaching systems and a wide variety of transport administrations, for example, cable car, transport, railroad administrations, interstate system, only yet to give some examples. Melbourne’s cable car arrange is considered the biggest on the planet given by its joining into the train and transport systems. There are almost 300 transport courses and a 16-line train framework overhauling Melbourne and its encompassing regions. Melbourne’s Western Central Business District is the place all railroad systems connect. The principle method of transport in Melbourne is train transport. It is ingenious, affordable and broad. As much as it helps Australians, there are issues appended to the vehicle framework that should be tended to. The Melbourne transport framework has been confronting various difficulties from train abrogations, increment of ticket charges, disturbances, lack of common sense, traffic clog, security, pauses, and so forth. Given by the issues encompassing the vehicle framework; a great many people are selecting to utilize private intends to venture out to keep away from the hustle that accompanies utilizing the city’s transport framework. The information for this report was acquired from books and articles about the vehicle framework in Melbourne. Results An expected 7 percent of all outings inside the metropolitan region in Melbourne are finished by the open vehicle framework. The greater part of the occupants of Melbourne city are disappointed with the vehicle framework benefits and might want to see a few changes and enhancements. Train abrogations have become a typical event in the city, and this shows the apparent emergency of the vehicle framework. The ongoing passage increment has additionally added to the rising discontent of travelers. As per universal measures, Melbourne analyzes ineffectively as far as putting resources into the vehicle framework. The issues have prompted countless travelers picking to utilize private intends to get to their goals. Conversation Train undoings in the city have been baffling suburbanites, and the avocations for this wonder are fantastical. As indicated by the CEO of Connex, Jonathan Metcalfe, the retractions have been expected to â€Å"very sweltering weather† (qtd in Windisch, 2009). Likewise, he accuses this issue for the RTBU (Rail, Tram and Bus Union) asserting that it â€Å"stopped a few trains running that could without much of a stretch have been in use† (qtd in Windisch, 2009). Occupants of Melbourne are not happy with this clarification in light of the fact that the climate is blistering throughout the late spring, and that ought not be a reason for the train abrogations. Progressively fault is moved to Connex from RTBU about their inability to upgrade duration guidelines and give satisfactory work force to take care of the issues. The trains retractions demonstrate hindering to the travelers particularly considering it is quicker to utilize them to move around. Ticket admissions were expanded by an expected 9 percent from January 1 this year. All outings under 40km were influenced by this enlarge in tolls. Passing by this expansion, open vehicle in Melbourne turned into the most costly in Australia (Davies, â€Å"Is the 9% expansion out in the open vehicle tolls fair?†). Distressed workers are compelled to pay extra for short excursions and absence of tickets prompts powerful fines forced by the ticket controllers. At the point when found without a ticket, travelers are confronted with the weight of settling up to $153 or confront arraignment and provocation from the examiners. These controllers feel that they can pester suburbanites. Their proceeded with animosity and showdown conduct has prompted protests by suburbanites everywhere throughout the city. It isn't sufficient that charges have become excruciating the provocation is getting overpowering on clients of open vehicle. With the expanding passages and shopper dissatisfaction about the Melbourne transport framework, rigid estimates should be taken for a superior future. Open vehicle and private methods have come about to expanded traffic blockage on the streets of Melbourne. Transports and private vehicles have clogged the street framework in the city. Venturing out to any piece of the city has become a danger as a result of the ever-present traffic on the streets brought about by the transports and different vehicles. Given by this disheartening wonder, more individuals are deciding to go via train and this has prompted packing in the trains. A few organizations that are bringing new trains and cable cars into the market have been blamed for bringing low-quality trains into the city. The legislature has since been accused for this issue as a result of lack of foresight and absence of thorough standards and guidelines in the vehicle framework. Workers have likewise whined about the poor administrations and infrequencies of the cable cars particularly during ends of the week. Open vehicle serve conceded rout when he stated, â€Å"you’ll never at any point arrive at where you can say we’ve fixed the problem† (qtd in Gardiner, â€Å"Public transport serve Terry Mulder has conceded he can't convey Melbourne an ideal train system†) The hold up between administrations is viewed as the most irritating part of Melbourne transport framework. This issue is uncommonly seen during off-top hours where workers are compelled to hold up between 30 minutes and an hour for transports. In different urban communities around the globe, travelers just need to hold up 10 minutes between administrations, which makes their vehicle frameworks progressively alluring and advantageous. Workers are continually griping about hanging tight for administrations at stations, and the legislature has not put forth any attempts to improve this circumstance. Also, if the administration improved the vehicle administrations, â€Å"more individuals would utilize the framework and it would be more secure as a result† (PTUA, â€Å"The issue with Melbourne’s Transport†). This should be possible if the legislature and the private part gave adequate enrollment at the stations to cause the travelers to feel safe. Security has additi onally been penetrated in cable cars in light of the fact that there are no conductors, in this manner, ingraining dread in a large portion of the travelers. End The Melbourne transport framework has been confronting various difficulties since days of yore. A portion of these issues run from toll issues, train retractions, disturbances from ticket monitors and security in the framework. In addition, there have been rising instances of traffic blockage out and about given by the expanding number of transports and different vehicles, the administration laxity to design satisfactorily and the considerable delays at stations. Ticket tolls have gone up as of late creation it hard to utilize open vehicle. Instances of trains scratch-offs particularly during top hours keep on bothering numerous suburbanites. Ticket auditors have discovered an escape clause in their work by annoying travelers for botches as meager as lacking tickets in trains and cable cars. Since the staffing on the vehicle framework isn't adequate, instability keeps on approaching in the trains and cable cars. Transports and individual vehicles keep on expanding the traffic blockage on the streets. Lack of common sense and laxity by the legislature has offered approach to contemptible trains in the frameworks, which have must be dropped for disappointment. Workers are continually whining about the long brains at the stations between administrations. These issues have settled for what is most convenient option of Melbourne in contrast with different urban areas around the globe. Taking a gander at the issues in the Melbourne transport framework it is basic that viable measures are taken to improve the circumstance. Suggestions So as to counter the issue in the Melbourne transport framework, government authorities need to quit accusing train abrogations for the climate and take care of business. They should just permit prepares in incredible conditions to work. It would be to the greatest advantage of the city if there were no train abrogations inside the vehicle framework. The costs for tickets likewise should be directed. The expansion in passage has just pursued workers from open vehicle henceforth lessening the income gathered from open vehicle. Dependable government and private specialists should discover approaches to improve the evaluating methodology in the framework so individuals would return

Burglary: Criminal Law and Effective Entry

Thievery is an offense under Section 9 of the Thefts Act, which is in 2 separate parts. The main sub area is s9(1)(a) which states â€Å" an individual is liable of thievery on the off chance that he enters any structure or part of a structure as a trespasser with the purpose to take, exact horrifying substantial mischief, or harm the structure or anything in it. † The subsequent part is s9(1)(b) which says â€Å"a individual is blameworthy of thievery if having entered a structure or part of a structure as a trespasser, he takes or endeavors to take anything in the structure or perpetrates or endeavors to exact heinous real mischief on any individual in the building†.The distinction between the two subsections is the expectation at the hour of passage. For instance s9 (1)(a) the respondent must have the aim to take, cause GBH or do unlawful harm at the hour of passage. For s9 (1)(b) what the respondent plans to do is unimportant the arraignment must demonstrate that th e litigant submitted or endeavored to submit Theft or GBH. So as of now there are a few disarrays with whether the respondent would be blameworthy of Burglary under s9(1)(a) or s9(1)(b). Section isn't characterized in the Theft Act, however there have been a few cases that help us on what the word â€Å"Entry† really means. The first case on Entry was the situation of Collins 1972. For this situation the litigant had smashed liquor and chosen he needed to engage in sexual relations. He saw a window that was open and ascended a stepping stool so he could view. He saw there was an exposed young lady inside sleeping on her bed. So he went down the stepping stool removed his garments and moved back up it to the young ladies room. She woke up and thought it was her sweetheart and helped him into the room where they had full intercourse. Collins was sentenced on s9(1)(a) as he entered with aim to rape. Before 2004 on the off chance that somebody was entering a structure with the goal of assault it would be remembered for this segment, however now it is under the Sexual Offenses Act. Collins engaged his conviction as he said that he wasn’t a trespasser when he entered the structure as the young lady welcomed him in. The Court of Appeal subdued his conviction as there was no proof that he was a trespasser and this is what is should have been liable of s9(1)(a) and obviously Burglary. Earthy colored was additionally another case that explained what was viewed as section. The litigant was remaining outside yet inclining in through a shop window scavenging through the goods. His feet and lower body was outside the shop. The Court of Appeal concluded that he had successfully entered the structure and in this way his conviction was maintained. Anyway on account of Ryan the requirement for compelling passage was not followed. For his situation the respondent the got caught in the window he was attempting to move through into a house at 2. 30 am. His head and righ t arm was stuck inside the house and the remainder of his body was outside. This could hardly be believed to be a successful section. How ever the Court of Appeal maintained his conviction as they said the jury could find that the litigant had entered. So what really qualifies as a viable section is found in these cases. They have explained by cases like Brown that you will at present be blameworthy of robbery regardless of whether your entire body isn’t inside the real structure. Additionally by cases like the Collins case on the off chance that you have been welcomed in by anyone, at that point you can't be liable of theft as you’re not a trespasser. The Theft Act does anyway give a portrayal of what is considered as a structure or part of a structure. Every occupied spot are considered as structures so that would incorporate houseboats or bands, are considered as structures/dwellings.To be a considered as a structure the structure must have some level of perpetual qu ality. The principle issue for the courts, have happened where a structure, for example, a portacabin for instance has been utilized for capacity or office work. Moveable structures like this can be viewed as structures despite the fact that their utilization specifically puts is just impermanent. Area 9 (4) manages what is viewed as a structure and it additionally says â€Å"buildings incorporate possessed vehicles or vessels†. Two cases that explained what was considered as a structure was the cases B and S v Leathley. In this case a 25 foot long cooler compartment had been kept in a farmstead for more than two years. It was utilized as a storeroom. It laid on sleepers, had entryways with locks and was associated with the power gracefully. This was viewed as a structure since it had some level of perpetual quality as it was there for a long time. On account of Norfolk Constabulary v Seeking and Gould, a lorry trailer with wheels which had been utilized for longer than a year for capacity, had steps giving access and was associated with power flexibly, was held not be a building. The truth that it had wheels implied that it stayed a vehicle. The courts have attempted to explain what a structure is nevertheless it is still exceptionally indistinct as certain parts of what the courts take a gander at are still troublesome, for example, to what extent the structure is there for. â€Å"Part of building† is utilized to cover circumstances in which the litigant may have authorization to be in one piece of the structure and is thusly not a trespasser, yet doesn’t have consent to be in another piece of the structure. A case of this is the situation of Walkington. In this case the respondent went into a counter region in a shop and opened a till. This zone was plainly set apart by a three-sided counter. The litigant was sentenced for thievery under area 9(1)(a) as he was a trespasser when he went behind the counter. The basic point for this situation was that the counter zone was not a territory where clients were allowed to go. Much the same as storerooms in shops clients are permitted to be in the shop however not the storeroom. I feel that the courts have explained this very well in view of the models that have utilized particularly the instance of Walkington. And the case of individuals not being permitted in storerooms however they are permitted in the shop. Likewise understudies are permitted in many places in school however they wouldn’t be permitted to walk around their head teacher’s office. All together for the respondent to submit robbery they should enter as a trespasser. In the event that they have consent to enter, at that point that makes them not a trespasser as we have found in the Collins case that I have clarified above in the primary section. The first utilization of the word trespasser in law originates from the common law.It was accepted that the significance of trespasser would be equivalent to in common law that â€Å"trespass is section without the assent of the legal occupier of the building†. The instance of Collins clarified that there was increasingly necessitated that simply the section. They expected to demonstrate that the respondent entered realizing he was a trespasser or was foolish concerning whether he was entering the reason of another without consent. Going past consent is the place the respondent is offered authorization to entre however then goes past that consent and afterward is viewed as a trespasser. This is clarified on account of the Smith and Jones. For this situation Smith and his companion went to Smiths fathers house in the night and took two TV set’s without the father’s authorization. The dad expressed that his child would not be a trespasser in the house; he had a general authorization to entre. They were indicted for thievery as they had gone past their authorization to be there. This is like the instance of Barker v R , where one individual was leaving and requested that the neighbor watch the house and disclosed to them where the key was. The litigant utilized the way to entre and steal. He was seen as liable of theft. There are numerous circumstances where an individual has consent to entre for a restricted reason. For instance when individuals go to a show they are just permitted there for a specific measure of time. The offense of Burglary has been given a definition by Parliament, however it has been left to the courts to explain all the key focuses. All the territories have been clarified however some have been explained more than others and as a result a few regions are still hard to comprehend for instance what is a structure or part of a structure, and going past consent.

The drug can be detected by urine, blood, and hair tests, but does not show up on standard saliva tests.   LSD is classified as a Schedule I drug, meaning there is no currently accepted medical use. While LSD is not considered addictive, it can have intense effects and a potential for long-term physical and mental consequences. Tolerance to the drug builds quickly, which means that it takes increasingly higher doses to experience the same effects.   Verywell / Cindy Chung   What to Know About LSD Use How Long Does It Take to Feel Effects? LSD is usually swallowed as a capsule or liquid or absorbed in your mouth on a paper square. Users feel the effects of LSD 20 to 90 minutes after taking a dose, peaking at two to four hours, and diminishing over six to eight hours. In addition to sensory and mood effects, LSD use may also result in:?? Increased blood pressureIncreased heart rateElevated body temperatureDry mouthSweatingDizzinessSleepinessLoss of appetiteNauseaNumbnessWeaknessTremorsDelusionsHallucinations While on an LSD acid trip, people can have rapid emotional shifts, intensified and distorted sensory experiences, and changes in the perception of time.??  If a large dose of LSD is taken, it can produce some very unpleasant effects, sometimes called a bad trip. But some people can experience a bad trip no matter what dosage they consumed. LSD can also produce delusions and visual hallucinations, which can cause some people to panic. People can experience severe, terrifying thoughts and feelings of despair, fear of losing control, or fear of insanity and death. One long-term but the rare danger of LSD use is a condition called hallucinogen persisting perceptual disorder (HPPD) in which flashbacks persist and produce distress or impairment for the user in social or occupational functioning. What Happens When You Take LSD? How Long Does LSD Last? The half-life of LSD is around 5.1 hours. The effects can last up to 12 hours. Research has found that peak levels following a single-dose occur at a median of 1.5 hours after administration. After peaking, drug levels decline and reach half of the peak levels at approximately 3.6 hours after administration. The effects of the drug can last for up to 12 hours.   After LSD is orally ingested, the substance is quickly absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and mucous membranes. The drug reaches the bloodstream and organs quickly, about 10 to 15 minutes after being ingested. The drug is primarily processed by the liver, where it is metabolized into a number of other inactive metabolites. Within 24 hours, almost all the drug has been metabolized and excreted. Approximately 13% of the drug is eliminated as a metabolite 2-oxo-3-hydroxy-LSD (O-H-LSD). Research suggests that this byproduct is present in urine samples at concentration levels 16 to 43 times higher than LSD.   Researchers have attempted to develop different methods for detecting LSD, but the fact that the drug is unstable, broken down so quickly, and usually taken in relatively small amount presents challenges. Urine LSD can generally be detected in urine tests within eight hours of use and up to two to four days after use. Blood In one study, researchers found that LSD was detectable in blood samples taken 16 hours after participants had been given 200mcg of LSD. For those given a smaller dose of 100mcg, researchers were able to detect the substance in blood tests 8 hours after administration. Because levels decline steadily over time, the ability to detect the substance via even very sensitive blood tests dropped considerably after the 16-hour mark. Hair LSD,  like many other drugs, can be detected with a hair follicle drug test for up to 90 days. However, the use of hair testing is relatively rare. Because the drug is often taken at such low doses, it can be very difficult to detect in both research and forensic settings.  While hair tests may occasionally be used to check for LSD, they tend to be costly and their results may be unreliable. False Positive Testing There are some medications that may cause false-positive urine drug screens for LSD,?? including: Amitril (amitriptyline)Wellbutrin (bupropion)Buspar (buspirone)Cardizem (diltiazem)Prozac (fluoxetine)Trandate (labetalol)Ritalin (methylphenidate)Zoloft (sertraline)Risperdal (risperidone)Verelan (verapamil)Ambroxol??Fentanyl ?? As a result, positive LSD results are critically evaluated and initial positive results must be confirmed by a second independent testing technique. Always disclose any prescription or over-the-counter medications you are taking to the lab so clinicians can accurately interpret your drug screen results. Factors That Affect Detection Time There are a number of different factors that can affect how long LSD can be detected in the body. How soon LSD is eliminated depends on your metabolism and factors such as your weight, whether you are well-hydrated, and how healthy all of your bodily systems are.?? Keep in mind that if you have any other drugs in your system, they may be detectable on drug screens for longer than LSD and might influence how long LSD stays in your system.  You cannot be assured of the purity of an illegally manufactured drug and there may be other detectable substances in LSD doses. With LSD, timing is a key factor that influences whether the drug will be detectable by screening tests. After 24 hours, the drug will no longer be detectable in blood tests. After 72 hours, the drug is much more difficult to detect on urine tests. Some other factors that can influence detections times for LSD include: Age Younger people metabolize LSD faster than those over the age of 65. This is due to the fact that younger people typically have faster metabolisms and better liver function than older adults. Liver Function The liver plays a key role in the metabolism of LSD, so the drug may be detectable longer in those with reduced or impaired liver function. Metabolism As with other substances, overall metabolism plays a part in determining how quickly LSD is cleared from the body. People with faster metabolisms may process the drug much more quickly than those with slower metabolisms. How to Get LSD Out of Your System If you need to get LSD out of your system quickly, there are some steps that you can take to possibly speed up the process. Stop taking the drug. With LSD, timing is the critical factor. It is much harder to detect the drug after 24 hours from your last use on blood tests, so the sooner you stop using, the better.Exercise. Physical activity may accelerate metabolism.Stay hydrated. As with other drugs, hydration levels can have an impact on how quickly LSD is metabolized. Because LSD and its metabolites are excreted through urine, drinking plenty of fluids may help flush the drug out more quickly. Symptoms of Overdose The use of LSD at high doses and in combination with some other substances, including some antidepressants, can lead to a potentially dangerous phenomenon known as serotonin syndrome. This condition is caused when there is too much serotonin in the body, resulting in symptoms including confusion, muscle spasms, tremors, rapid heartbeat, and nausea. While there is no known lethal dose of LSD, taking too much can result in a terrifying experience that is commonly known as a bad trip. This experience is dangerous because it may result in hallucinations, self-harm, risky behaviors, or suicide. Potential symptoms that may occur after a bad trip can include: Panic  ParanoiaDelusionsHallucinationsSelf-injuryMood swingsSevere anxietyAccidentsSuicide If you suspect that someone is having an adverse reaction to LSD use, contact emergency services right away. Stay with the person and try to keep them calm until help arrives. What Happens During a Bad Trip? Getting Help LSD affects your mind and body significantly for at least 12 hours after a dose. You cannot be assured of the dosage and purity of an illegally manufactured drug, which can influence how long you feel the effects and how long it remains in your system.?? LSD can affect your ability to function normally at work, at home, and at school. If you feel like you need help, talk to your doctor about your options. Treatment approaches may include outpatient or inpatient rehab that focuses on individual counseling, group therapy, and family therapy. There are no FDA-approved drugs used in the treatment of LSD use. However, your doctor may prescribe medications to help treat symptoms of other psychiatric conditions including depression and anxiety. If you are concerned about your LSD use, you can also contact the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357 or utilize their online treatment locator to find treatment resources near you. Sugar’s Effect on Your Health Free Essays

The average American consumes an astounding 2-3 pounds of sugar each week, which is not surprising considering that highly refined sugars in the forms of sucrose (table sugar), dextrose (corn sugar), and high-fructose corn syrup are being processed into so many foods such as bread, breakfast cereal, mayonnaise, peanut butter, ketchup, spaghetti sauce, and a plethora ofmicrowave meals. In the last 20 years, we have increased sugar consumption in the U. S. We will write a custom essay sample on Sugar’s Effect on Your Health or any similar topic only for you Order Now 26 pounds to 135 lbs. of sugar per person per year! Prior to the turn of this century (1887-1890), the average consumption was only 5 lbs. per person per year!Cardiovascular disease  and  cancer  was virtually unknown in the early 1900’s. The â€Å"glycemic index† is a measure of how a given food affects blood-glucose levels, with each food being assigned a numbered rating. The lower the rating, the slower the absorption and  digestion process, which provides a more gradual, healthier infusion of sugars into the bloodstream. On the other hand, a high rating means that blood-glucose levels are increased quickly, which stimulates the pancreas to secrete  insulin  to drop blood-sugar levels. These rapid fluctuations of blood-sugar levels are not healthy because of the stress they place on the body. One of sugar’s major drawbacks is that it  raises the insulin level, which inhibits the release of growth hormones, which in turn depresses the  immune system. This is not something you want to take place if you want to avoid disease. An influx of sugar into the bloodstream upsets the body’s blood-sugar balance, triggering the release of insulin, which the body uses to keep blood-sugar at a constant and safe level. Insulin also promotes the storage of fat, so that when you eat sweets high in sugar, you’re making way for rapid weight gain and  elevated triglyceride levels, both of which have been linked to cardiovascular disease.Complex carbohydrates tend to be absorbed more slowly, lessening the impact on blood-sugar levels. Sugar depresses the immune system. We have known this for decades. It was only in the 1970’s that researchers found out that  vitamin Cwas needed by white blood cells so that they could phagocytize viruses and bacteria. White blood cells require a 50 times higher concentration inside the cell as outside so they have to accumulate vitamin C. There is something called a â€Å"phagocytic index† which tells you how rapidly a particular macrophage or lymphocyte can gobble up a virus, bacteria, orcancer  cell. It was in the 1970’s that Linus Pauling realized that white blood cells need a high dose ofvitamin C  and that is when he came up with his theory that you need high doses of  vitamin C  to combat the  common cold. We know that glucose and  vitamin C  have similar chemical structures, so what happens when the sugar levels go up? They compete for one another upon entering the cells. And the thing that mediates the entry of glucose into the cells is the same thing that mediates the en try of vitamin C into the cells. If there is more glucose around, there is going to be less vitamin C allowed into the cell.It doesn’t take much: a blood sugar value of 120 reduces the phagocytic index by 75%. So when you eat sugar, think of your  immune system  slowing down to a crawl. Here we are getting a little bit closer to the roots of disease. It doesn’t matter what disease we are talking about, whether we are talking about a common cold or about cardiovascular disease, or cancer or osteoporosis, the root is always going to be at the cellular and molecular level, and more often than not  insulin  is going to have its hand in it, if not totally controlling it.The health dangers which ingesting sugar on an habitual basis creates are certain. Simple sugars have been observed to aggravate asthma, move mood swings, provoke personality changes, muster mental illness, nourish nervous disorders, deliver  diabetes, hurry  heart disease, grow gallstones, hasten hypertension, and add arthritis . Because refined dietary sugars lack minerals and vitamins, they must draw upon the body’s micro-nutrient stores in order to be metabolized into the system. When these storehouses are depleted, metabolization of cholesterol and  fatty acid  is impeded, contributing to higher blood serumtriglycerides, cholesterol, promoting  obesity  due to higher fatty acid storage around organs and in sub-cutaneous tissue folds. Because sugar is devoid of minerals, vitamins, fiber, and has such a deteriorating effect on the endocrine system, major researchers and major health organizations (American Dietetic Association and American Diabetic Association) agree that sugar consumption in America is one of the 3 major causes of degenerative disease. Honey is a simple sugarThere are 4 classes of simple sugars which are regarded by most nutritionists as â€Å"harmful† to optimal health when prolonged consumption in amounts above 15% of the carbohydrate calories are ingested: Sucrose, fructose, honey, and malts. Some of you may be surprised to find honey here. Although honey is a natural sweetener, it is considered a refined sugar because 96% of dry matter are simple sugars: fructose, glucose and sucrose. It is little wonder that the honey bear is the only animal found in nature with a problem with tooth-decay (honey decays teeth faster than table sugar). Honey has the highest calorie content of all sugars with 65 calories/tablespoon, compared to the 48 calories/tablespoon found in table sugar. The increased calories are bound to cause increased blood serum fatty acids, as well as weight gain, on top of the risk of more cavities. | | Pesticides  used on farm crops and residential flowers have been found in commercial honey. Honey can be fatal to an infant whose immature digestive tracts are unable to deal effectively with Botulinum Spore growth. What nutrients or enzymes raw honey does contain are destroyed by manufacturers who heat it in order to give it a clear appearance to enhance sales. If you are going to consume honey, make sure it is raw, unheated honey. Good to use in special cures, but not as an every day food. It is not much better than white or brown sugar. Here is a list of ways sugar can affect your health: * Sugar can suppress the  immune system. * Sugar can upset the body’s mineral balance. * Sugar can contribute to hyperactivity, anxiety,  depression, concentration difficulties, and crankiness in children. * Sugar can produce a significant rise in  triglycerides. * Sugar can cause drowsiness and decreased activity in children. * Sugar can reduce helpful high density cholesterol (HDLs). Sugar can promote an elevation of harmful cholesterol (LDLs). * Sugar can cause hypoglycemia. * Sugar contributes to a weakened defense against bacterial infection. * Sugar can cause kidney damage. * Sugar can increase the risk of  coronary heart disease. * Sugar may lead to chromium deficiency. * Sugar can cause copper deficiency. * Sugar interferes with absorption of calcium and magnesium. * Sugar can increase  fasting  levels of blood glucose.* Sugar can promote tooth decay. * Sugar can produce an acidic stomach. * Sugar can raise adrenaline levels in children. Sugar can lead to  periodontal disease. * Sugar can speed the aging process, causing wrinkles and grey hair. * Sugar can increase total cholesterol. * Sugar can contribute to  weight gain and obesity. * High intake of sugar increases the risk of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. * Sugar can contribute to  diabetes. * Sugar can contribute to  osteoporosis. * Sugar can cause a decrease in  insulin sensitivity. * Sugar leads to decreased glucose tolerance. * Sugar can cause  cardiovascular disease. * Sugar can increase systolic blood pressure. * Sugar causes food  allergies. Sugar can cause  free radical  formation in the bloodstream. * Sugar can cause toxemia during  pregnancy. * Sugar can contribute to eczema in children. * Sugar can overstress the pancreas, causing damage. * Sugar can cause  atherosclerosis. * Sugar can compromise the lining of the capillaries. * Sugar can cause liver cells to divide, increasing the size of the liver. * Sugar can increase the amount of  fat in the liver. * Sugar can increase kidney size and produce pathological changes in the  kidney. * Sugar can cause  depression. * Sugar can increase the body’s fluid retention. Sugar can cause hormonal imbalance. * Sugar can cause hypertension. * Sugar can cause headaches, including migraines. * Sugar can cause an increase in delta, alpha and theta brain waves, which can alter the mind’s ability to think clearly. * Sugar can increase blood platelet adhesiveness which increases risk of blood clots and  strokes. * Sugar can increase  insulin responses  in those consuming high-sugar diets compared to low sugar diets. * Sugar increases bacterial  fermentation in the colon. | Sugar and cancer Of the over 4 million  cancer  patients being treated in the U.S. today, almost none are offered any scientifically guided nutrition therapy other than being told to â€Å"just eat good foods. † Many cancer patients would have a major improvement in their conditions if they controlled the supply of cancer’s preferred fuel: GLUCOSE. By slowing the cancer’s growth, patients make it possible for their  immune systems  to catch up to the disease. Controlling one’s blood-glucose levels through  diet,  exercise, supplements,  meditation  and  prescription drugs  Ã¢â‚¬â€œ when necessary – can be one of the most crucial components to a cancer treatment program. The saying â€Å"Sugar feeds  cancer† is simple. The explanation is a little more involved. German Otto Warburg, Ph. D. , the 1931 Nobel laureate in medicine, first discovered that cancer cells have a fundamentally different energy metabolism compared to healthy cells. The gist of his Nobel thesis was this: malignant tumors frequently exhibit an increase in â€Å"anaerobic glycolysis† – a process whereby glucose is used by cancer cells as a fuel with lactic acid as an anaerobic by-product – compared to normal tissues. 1) | | | Hence,  cancer therapies  should attempt to regulate blood-glucose levels through  diet, supplements, exercise, medication when necessary, gradual weight loss and  stress reduction. Since cancer cells derive most of their energy from anaerobic glycolysis, the goal is not to eliminate sugars or carbohydrates entirely from the diet but rather to control blood-glucose within a narrow range to help starve the cancer cells and boost  immune function. Sensory Perception free essay sample

There are also other cases where what we think we see is not really what it is, â€Å"habits, interests, and biases, focuses and thus limits our perceptions. † (Kirby Goodpaster, 2007, pg. 56) I believe that our sensory information in most regards is accurate, without any sort of accuracy we would not depend on them as much as we do in our thinking and decision making. When we feel heat on a pan on the stove our senses alert us to the danger of being burnt and we proceed with caution. When we see that it is raining outside we know we will get wet and make a decision to bring an umbrella to keep warm. Hearing is another powerful sense that we use to listen to words, is crucial in communication, and is interactive with our thinking. When we hear a very loud noise close to us we are startled and our senses might kick in and tell us to take cover for safety. We will write a custom essay sample on Sensory Perception or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page When we sense better, we in turn think better. 2. Identify and describe at least three factors contributing to the accuracy of sensory data. Sensory data is vital towards survival in the wild. Animals depend on their senses in hunting, fighting, and decision making. The senses of many predators have adopted and developed in many ways that allow them to be the best, most efficient hunters and at survival. Each animal has unique senses that allow them to have a much better chance at survival. Bats can hear at a higher frequency that allows them to locate capture predators easier, many invertebrates are able to analyze and see polarized light to help in the water. â€Å"Some snakes use infrared radiation to locate warm-blooded prey, and certain beetles can use it to sense forest fires. (â€Å"Senses, 2012†) In order for our sensory data to be accurate we need to ensure that our perceptions are sharp which will help us in better delivery of data to our brains. We also need to ensure that our observations are accurate, that we have gotten all of the facts right. Another factor to take into consideration is that â€Å"we need to perceive beyond appearances and behind false faces† (Kirby Goodpaster, 2007, pg. 54) 3. Discuss the roles of â€Å"nature† and â€Å"nurture† with regard to the interpretation and evaluation of sensory data. I think that in regard to the interpretation and evaluation of sensory data that primarily in humans both nature and nurture are involved. We still possess the fight or flight primal sense for survival. On the other hand I think that our nurture has become a part of who we are and does affect our sensory data. As an example, a person raised in Japan and one raised in Mexico will have been raised with different senses of taste, smells, sounds or hearing, and with very different visual experiences. These differences in sensory data will affect who they are and their thinking. Yes, on a basic level we all feel pain, see, hear, but their experiences and how the nurturing affects them will be very different. As stated earlier, â€Å"custom in the form of habits, interests, and biases, focuses and thus limits perceptions. † (Kirby Goodpaster, 2007, pg. 56) I think we do act on our animal instincts in our human behavior but I also do believe that we think and behave in certain ways due to being taught to do so, our sensory data is a combined mixture of both that we take into consideration and sensing in our thinking and actions.

Freud and Happiness essays

Freud and Happiness essays Born in 1856 in a small European town, Sigmund Freud would grow to be one of the most important thinkers in recorded history. From a young age, he attempted to understand the human mind and explain its tendencies. In doing so, he successfully managed to make countless enemies and critics. His ideas in response to the puzzles of human existence often conflicted with those of his audience, and I am in this number. In his novel Civilization and Its Discontents, Freud presents theories on happiness, none of with which I agree. Freud describes happiness, understood by us as pleasure, as everyones main goal in life. According to Freud, all humans strive after happiness; they want to become happy and remain so(25). Mankind struggles in everything to avoid feelings of displeasure and pain while attempting to experience feelings of joy and delight. Freud named this concept the pleasure principle, and he thought it to be the gist of life. I, on the other hand, do not believe that the pleasure principle is everyones driving force. First of all, people have different goals in life, starting with the most basic goal of survival. Besides that, though, people seek love, praise, wealth, and reproduction. However, different people do not hold these goals in equal esteem because no one is the same. Secondly, the need for happiness is important, but not vital. We can survive if we are not always experiencing pleasure, but for some individuals, sterility is devastating, and for others, the loss of love can lead to suicide. Freud believed that the pleasure principal is prevalent in humans at all times but can never be satisfied. He said that the principle dominates the operation of the mental apparatus from the start(25). Right when we are born, the pleasure principle is working inside of us. As infants, we cry if we are hungry or in pain, and we enjoy the warmth and security of our mothers arms. Day in and day out...

Juvenile Interrogation - Admissibility of a Juvenile Confession Essay

Juvenile Interrogation - Admissibility of a Juvenile Confession - Essay Example Hence, prompt the police investigators holding this false confession as an absolute truth and valid meant for presentation in the court. However, the court has set guidelines, which all the involved parties during juvenile’s interrogation ought to observe. Similar to other offenders, juvenile once they break the law ought to undergo the same procedure but treated differently while in custody. This is especially during the interrogation where there ought to be an attorney or a parent (Sherman, 2011). Since, this is the vital process whereby due to the child’s age and state of mind, certain parties may end up doubting the information’s validity presented in court as an evidence or confession. Therefore, the court cites that the only admissible confession is from a juvenile who is above 14 years and not below that age (Maynard & Sumner, LLC, 2012). Since the court presumes one at that age he or she can make informed decisions while aided by either an attorney or a parent. This is to ensure the police investigators do not result by other means meant to compel the child against his or her wish into confessing (Sherman, 2011). However, the wish to have either a parent or an adult assistance always depends on the child whereby t he involved parties ought to respect the offender’s waiver rights (Sherman, 2011). If this is the case, then confessions via the appropriate procedure are admissible in court. Nevertheless, police investigators ought to attest beyond doubt that the confession was made in the absence of coercion, which is via using visual aids like videos (Sherman, 2011). In addition, despite the police investigators employing the right procedure meant to attain the child’s confession, still, face numerous challenges. For instance, the child may end up giving false confessions (Leo & Liu, n.d). This is due to either the parent or an attorney’s insistence advising the juvenile to tell the â€Å"truth† whereby their inclination is on one side, which is admitting the offence.

The Fast Food Industry Effect on America Research Paper - 1

The Fast Food Industry Effect on America - Research Paper Example This research paper focuses mostly on fast-food topic, that is a staple in many Americans lives today. The researcher explaines the history of development of such restaurants and states that fast-food was not always as prevalent or accessible as it is now. What began as small mom and pop kiosks has morphed into one of the largest industries in the world. The effect that fast food has had on the United States and the world in general can be summed up by Paolo Freire. Freire states that the â€Å"interests of the oppressors lie in, as asserted by de Beauvoir, â€Å"changing the consciousness of the oppressed, not the situation which oppresses them†. While fast food may or may not be considered an oppressive force, the truth remains that fast food has not quintessentially changed since its inception, but the beliefs of what fast food is has. It does not matter if an individual eats fast food every day, once a month, or never, the fast food industry has become incorporated into d aily life. By incorporating themselves into schools and near schools, these establishments have continued to contribute to obesity and changing mindsets for children and adults. Start the children young, with tasty food, and you have a loyal consumer for the remainder of their life. In conclusion, the researcher gives one direct example of how the fast food industry has changed how people feel about food, that is the movie â€Å"Super-size me†. The movie is about a man who eats at McDonalds for a month to show how bad it is for the normal consumer.
